Classes

WTK offers 8 training classes per week. There is no need to attend all the classes. However, it is recommended for members to attend at least two classes a week. You have the choice of attending any of the classes up to 5 sessions per week. The great thing about training in WTK is that you have the flexibility of choosing which classes to attend to fit in your busy schedules.

Warm Up

Each class begins with a group warm up including skipping, callisthenics, stretching and shadow boxing.

Class Structure

The class is then broken up into different groups based upon experience.

Beginner Class

Beginner Class is for those who have just started training and are still working on the basics including stance, foot works, punches, kicks and knees. To reach the basic level of proficiency offered in Beginners Class may take 2 to 4 months depending on number of sessions attended. After 30 sessions beginners may choose to be graded for proficiency to join Intermediate Class.

THERE IS NO SPARRING IN THE BEGINNERS CLASS

Intermediate Class

More complex techniques, elbows, pad work and sparring are taught in this class. Those who do not want to spar can continue to work with kick pads. In addition to the two general classes, Intermediate Class members can attend specialised Sparring and Technique classes. After 45 sessions students in intermediate class can choose to be graded for Intermediate Level proficiency to join Advanced Class.

Advanced Class

After graded for proficiency in intermediate level, serious members can opt for longer and more intensive training in the Advanced Class, where they train together with fighters. Advanced class offers more intensive training, where students learn more complex attacking and defending skills, including elbows. After 60 sessions students in advanced class can choose to be graded for Advanced Level proficiency, and can carry on training to become a qualified Fighter.

Fighter Grades

There are 3 levels in the Fighter grade. Below are the requirements to achieve the respective levels:

Warrant of Fight Fitness (WOFF) – 30 sessions after attaining Advanced Level. It is compulsory for all those intend to fight in the ring. The grading is optional for non fighters.

Amateur Fighter – 30 sessions after attaining WOFF plus 2 padded novice fights

Pro Fighter – 40 sessions after attaining Amateur Fighter Level plus 8 full fights

Fight Squad

Those who are serious about training can opt to join the Fight Squad. There are 10 training sessions per week available, with specialised classes for sparring and techniques. Fight Squad Training focuses solely on fighting. Fight Squad is open to fighters and non-fighters who wish to train but may not go on to compete.

Training

Each group then works though a variety of drills on Thai pads, focus mitts as well as grappling and sparing practice. Sparring is optional. The class usually finishes with stamina exercises before concluding with a warm down.
